For more than 40 years, the Thomas J. Long Foundation has been supporting local charitable organizations that provide programs and services to benefit and inspire the people of the communities where we live, work, and play. We envision healthy, diverse, vibrant and caring East Bay communities where all residents have the opportunity to thrive.

The Board of Trustees of the Thomas J. Long Foundation recently decided to spend out its $90 million endowment over the next five years. Future grantmaking strategies will focus on four areas of interest:  education, safety net services, services for seniors, and services for individuals with disabilities.

During the first quarter of 2015, our E-Grants System will be inactive and the Foundation will accept proposals for funding by invitation only. However, current grantees will continue to be able to access the E-Grants System via the link at the top of this page to submit required grant reports.

Please check our website in March for important updates related to the Foundation’s spend out strategy and grantmaking process moving forward. We appreciate your patience.
